ABOUT: Dickson Studios is a working metal sculpture studio utilizing a wide range of media, with a primary focus on metals. These include Steel, Stainless Steel, Aluminum and Bronze. I specialize in both fabrication and casting.
I am consumed with the process of sculpting: the physical act of creating by the deconstruction and reconstruction of ideas. The struggle to reassign beauty, power and meaning to both found and raw materials. Allowing these forms to exist free of the constraints of the expected norm.
The entanglement, the blood, sweat and smoke, the challenge of steel, fire and heat. I call this the romance of construction, and thru this action I seek to challenge the familiar. It is my hope that the viewer will join me on this journey.

So he made another pair. Then another. Improving that original design became an obsession. Four years, over twenty industrial sewing machines, multiple workshop spaces, and an untold number of prototypes later, we think we’ve designed the perfect jeans.

ABOUT: Contemporary art historians write that irony and doubt drive Post-modern art…These are qualities I consciously strive to keep out of my work. Instead, over the past three decades, in an effort to produce positive images, I have tried to create works which are hieroglyphic in their basic impact and may be linked to diverse cultures in their inspiration. In the Post-modern world, cultures, classes, and ethnic groups have at their disposal, information which defines and shapes each of these societal units. The artist, now, is an agent who is free to pick and choose from traditions, images, and ideals once handed down within groups. By doing so, it is the artist’s responsibility to enlarge and elaborate this material for new audiences through his knowledge of human experience and the aesthetic process.
